Basketball Game Preview: Cox Falcons vs. Ocean Lakes Dolphins

Cox is 0-10 against Ocean Lakes since February of 2018 but things could change on Friday. The Cox Falcons will take on the Ocean Lakes Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. Cox will be strutting in after a victory while Ocean Lakes will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Cox turned things around against Tallwood on Wednesday. They strolled past the Lions with points to spare, taking the game 35-16.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 68 points the game before, Ocean Lakes was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Princess Anne and fell 85-16. While losing is never fun, the Dolphins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Cavaliers are ranked second).

Cox's win bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Ocean Lakes, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Cox ended up a good deal behind Ocean Lakes in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, losing 57-38. Can Cox avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
