Basketball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Hughson Huskies

Hilmar and Hughson are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Hilmar Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Hughson Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hilmar will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Livingston, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Hilmar had just enough and edged Livingston out 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Yellowjackets have posted since December 26, 2024.

Hilmar found their leader in sophomore Cohen Felber, who went 6 for 11 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. Aaron Solorio was another key player, putting up 14 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Hughson came into Tuesday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 70-64 W over Orestimba on Tuesday.

Hughson's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 10-11. As for Hilmar, their win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-13.

Hilmar suffered a grim 73-51 defeat to Hughson when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Hilmar, Cade Mclaughlin (who went 10 of 15 on his way to 23 points in addition to five assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
