Baseball Recap: Euclid Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Medina, Euclid was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Cleveland Central Catholic Ironmen. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Panthers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Mike Kalinowski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowing only two earned runs while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Malik Abdul-Wali was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Jeanpaul Hernandez-Lamoureaux was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Euclid was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland Central Catholic only posted a batting average of .000.

The win snapped Euclid's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-11 record. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Euclid will challenge Garfield Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.6 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cleveland Central Catholic, they will square off against Maple Heights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ironmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 11.1 runs per game this season.
