Basketball Game Preview: Marion-Franklin Red Devils vs. Briggs Bruins

The Marion-Franklin Red Devils will venture away from home to take on the Briggs Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Marion-Franklin is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Granville on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Marion-Franklin came up short against Granville, falling 74-52. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 721st, while the Blue Aces are ranked 232nd).

Meanwhile, Briggs entered their game against Columbus Academy on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Briggs was outmatched by Columbus Academy and fell 70-30. Having soared to a lofty 58 points in the game before, the Bruins couldn't push the score so high this time.

Marion-Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Briggs, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5.

Marion-Franklin came up short against Briggs in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 55-50. Can Marion-Franklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
