Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Laredo LBJ's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Laredo LBJ hadn't done well against Del Rio recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Everything went the Laredo LBJ Wolves' way against the Del Rio Rams as the Laredo LBJ Wolves made off with a 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Leonardo Alvarez made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Jorge Figueroa and Enrique Loyola did most of the damage at the plate: Figueroa scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Loyola scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those three runs gave Figueroa a new career-high. Guillermo Montes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Laredo LBJ hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Laredo LBJ has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Del Rio is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Laredo LBJ will have a chance to go back-to-back against Del Rio: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
