Basketball Recap: Union City Takes a Loss

Union City lost against Erie First Christian Academy back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Union City Bears came up short against Erie First Christian Academy, falling 64-44. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Avery Collins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Erie First Christian Academy, putting up 29 points. Collins is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season. Simon Gonzalez was another key player, earning ten points and six boards.

Union City's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Erie First Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Union City will take on Mercyhurst Prep at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercyhurst Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Union City likes a good challenge. As for Erie First Christian Academy, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on February 4th.
