Baseball Recap: Shepherd Comes Up Short

Shepherd lost against Tarkington back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Shepherd Pirates fell just short of the Tarkington Longhorns by a score of 3-2.

Kyler Syracuse was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Kody Pippen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Shepherd dropped their record down to 6-6 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Tarkington, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10-1.

While Shepherd had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
