Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus Extends Winning Streak to Four

Central Cabarrus had won three straight games and Myajah Nix did her part to make it four on Tuesday. The Vikings blew past the Hopewell Titans 57-12 with plenty of help from Nix, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 boards. The contest was her fifth in a row with at least 19 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Felicity Arevalo, who posted nine points. Arevalo is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Hopewell saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kennidy Farley had six points. Leigha Williams also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Central Cabarrus' record now sits at 4-0. As for Hopewell, their defeat was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Central Cabarrus will square off against Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hopewell, they will challenge Independence at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 57 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
