Soccer Game Preview: Gibbs vs. Grainger

The Gibbs Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Grainger Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Gibbs is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Northview Academy on Tuesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Grainger fell victim to Seymour and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Grainger can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while Seymour are ranked 133rd).

Grainger has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. Gibbs' draw makes their record 7-6-1 this season.

Everything went Gibbs' way against Grainger in their previous meeting back in March, as Gibbs made off with a 7-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
