Deer Park hasn't had much luck against Pullman recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Stags will face off against the Greyhounds at 11:00 a.m. Deer Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Deer Park came up short against West Valley and fell 9-4.
Deer Park saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Wadleigh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Pullman and Clarkston, and Pullman kept the tradition alive. The Greyhounds blew past the Bantams 14-4 on Monday. Considering the Greyhounds have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Rocky Karino-Evans was excellent, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Braden Northcroft, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Pullman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Pullman's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Deer Park, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Deer Park has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Pullman struggles in that department as they've averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Deer Park couldn't quite get it done against Pullman in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 12-9. Can the Stags avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
