Softball Game Preview: Grand Terrace Titans vs. Muir Mustangs

The Grand Terrace Titans will head out to face off against the Muir Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grand Terrace's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Muir's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Grand Terrace's tournament run continued when they took on La Habra back in February. Grand Terrace fell 6-3 to La Habra. The Titans have struggled against the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Muir had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Gianna (GiGi) Butler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Abigail (Abi) Milton was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Eriel Wallace also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Muir kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in four consecutive matches.

Muir's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Grand Terrace, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
