Basketball Recap: Seeger Comes Up Short

Seeger lost against Tri-County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Seeger Patriots came up short against the Tri-County Cavaliers, falling 52-30. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 83rd).

Despite the loss, Seeger still got an impressive performance from Caleigh Purcell, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 15 points and eight steals. Purcell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played.

Sara Zarse was her usual excellent self, putting up 14 points for Tri-County. Another player making a difference was Gracie Scheitlin, who posted seven points.

Seeger has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Tri-County, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Seeger has already played their next contest (against Rossville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Tri-County has already played their next game, a 55-30 win against Twin Lakes on the 24th.
