Fillmore and Cuba-Rushford are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fillmore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 14.2 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Fillmore made easy work of Andover and carried off a 19-3 win. The Eagles have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Mylee Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Tenlee Miller was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Miller is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Mattie McCumiskey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Fillmore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Cuba-Rushford fell victim to Wellsville and their airtight pitching crew last Friday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 9-0. The Rebels have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.
Cuba-Rushford now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Fillmore, their record is now 3-1.
Fillmore couldn't quite get it done against Cuba-Rushford when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
