Basketball Game Preview: George Washington Eagles vs. Roxborough Wolves

The George Washington Eagles will head out to square off against the Roxborough Wolves at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. George Washington has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, George Washington turned things around against TECH Freire Charter on Friday. They walked away with a 67-60 victory over the Dragons.

It was another big night for Anderson Dorvil, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. Ben Makias was another key player, going 7 of 15 en route to 20 points.

George Washington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Roxborough had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 49-31 win over the Cougars.

Roxborough's win came from a few key players George Washington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kysheim Jenkins-Lyons, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Zymeir Robinson, who posted eight points and five boards.

Roxborough pushed their record up to 16-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for George Washington, their record now sits at 13-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: George Washington has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 33.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Roxborough struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
