Baseball Recap: Bluegrass United Takes a Loss

Bluegrass United lost against Indianapolis Kings back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bluehawks fell just short of Indianapolis Kings by a score of 7-6.

Bailey Hawkins put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Hawkins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, John Byrd was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Bluegrass United is 4-2 when Byrd posts two or more runs, but 5-11 otherwise.

Bluegrass United's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Indianapolis Kings, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season.

Bluegrass United does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Indianapolis Kings, they will head out on the road to challenge Southport at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
