Softball Recap: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Saluda Tigers
Batesburg-Leesville extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-12-1 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Saluda Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on April 1st.
As for Saluda, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 17-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games.
For Saluda's part, they let Taylor Wideman and Nyla Jordan run wild. Wideman went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Jordan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Jordan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayme Sheaffer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Batesburg-Leesville will challenge rival Strom Thurmond at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Saluda is set to face off against their familiar foe Ninety Six at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
