Softball Recap: Hume Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Hume waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Rich Hill Tigers by a score of 8-4. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-10 victory on April 1st.

Talya McFrederick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Shryer, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dalley Steuck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Hume's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Rich Hill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Hume will head out on the road to face off against Midway at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rich Hill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kingsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
