Baseball Recap: Deerfield Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Williams Bay, Deerfield was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Palmyra-Eagle Panthers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2025, but that streak is no more.

Landon Brattlie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Deerfield is 3-1 when Brattlie allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-6-1 otherwise. Brattlie was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Aiden McAloon was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Noah Maginn was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Deerfield's record is now 4-7-1. As for Palmyra-Eagle, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Deerfield will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Panthers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
