St. Johns Country Day's game on Thursday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 44-37 to the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

St. Johns Country Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophia Mejias, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Proffitt, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and three blocks.

St. Johns Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for St. Augustine, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.

St. Johns Country Day and Lugoff-Elgin will round out the year against one another at at 12:45 p.m. on December 27th. As for St. Augustine, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
