Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Oakland

Oakland waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Lowell Devils as they made off with a 14-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 two weeks ago.

Maddie Dalberti spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Whittaker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Hayes, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Oakland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lowell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
