Basketball Recap: Seth Zeigler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pagosa Springs over Bayfield

Pagosa Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 61-51 to the Bayfield Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-44 back in January.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Zeigler, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Colt Lewis was another key player, putting up 11 points and eight assists.

Pagosa Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Bayfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Pagosa Springs and Bayfield are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Pagosa Springs will take on Aspen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aspen will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Pagosa Springs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bayfield, they will square off against Peyton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Peyton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight games.
