Baseball Recap: Crawford Takes a Loss

Crawford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 10-6 to the Mountain Empire Redhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 8-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2015.

Hector Fuentes and Abbel Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Fuentes scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4, while Martinez scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Fuentes has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Carrillo, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Crawford's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Mountain Empire, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Coming up, Crawford will take on Sweetwater at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mountain Empire, they will face off against Guajome Park Academy at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Frogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Redhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
