Basketball Game Preview: Creede Miners vs. Lake City Community 14ers

The Creede Miners will face off against the Lake City Community 14ers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Creede has six straight victories, Lake City Community has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Creede will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Centennial, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Creede secured a 42-38 W over Centennial on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 19-19 at the break, but the Miners were the better team in the second half.

Creede got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Angel Edmonds out in front who posted five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Creede is 7-3 when Edmonds posts eight or more boards, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmin Laing, who scored 15 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, Lake City Community played a tough match on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 63-15 loss at the hands of Centennial. The 14ers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-4.

Creede pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Lake City Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Creede against Lake City Community in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 48-21 win. Will Creede repeat their success, or does Lake City Community have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
