Baseball Recap: West Shore Christian Academy Takes a Loss

West Shore Christian Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-4 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the High Point Baptist Academy Eagles. If West Shore Christian Academy was looking for revenge after losing 16-2 to High Point Baptist Academy when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Jaden Locker and Memphis Barron did some serious damage despite the final result: Locker went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Barron got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Barron is becoming a predictor of West Shore Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Kyle Wolfe also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for High Point Baptist Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On High Point Baptist Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Landon Richard, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Richard has posted since back in April of 2024. Colton Swenson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Shore Christian Academy will face off against Shalom Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. West Shore Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Flames have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for High Point Baptist Academy, they will square off against Executive Education Academy Charter School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Eagles' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Raptors have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
