The D'Iberville Warriors will challenge the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
D'Iberville will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Biloxi, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Indians on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Ayden Demoran made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaylen Johnson was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Another player making a difference was Cannon Wilson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
D'Iberville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Red Rebels.
The team relied heavily on AJ Arguello, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin San Miguel, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
D'Iberville pushed their record up to 9-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Ocean Springs, their win bumped their record up to 17-4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. D'Iberville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ocean Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
