Preview: Gainesville Hurricanes vs. P.K. Yonge Blue Wave

The Gainesville Hurricanes will be home for the holidays to greet the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gainesville will be strutting in after a victory while P.K. Yonge will be coming in after a loss.

Last Wednesday, Gainesville had just enough and edged Buchholz out 47-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gainesville.

It was another big night for Jocelyn Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Jayden Terry was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, P.K. Yonge's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Bradford 55-49.

Despite their defeat, P.K. Yonge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reniyah Clark, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlyn Young, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Gainesville's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-4. As for P.K. Yonge, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 4-4.

Gainesville might still be hurting after the 74-49 defeat they got from P.K. Yonge in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can Gainesville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
