Miller dropped their record down to 9-8 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops by a score of 5-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 8-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Nick Thompson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Zander Bice was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

As for Bishop Rosecrans, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Bishop Rosecrans' side, Jacobie Balo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Balo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Balo wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Perdue, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another was Coen Grandstaff, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Miller will head out on the road to challenge River Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.8 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they will take on Tuscarawas Central Catholic in a tournament on Monday.
