Volleyball Recap: Van Wert Comes Up Short

Van Wert lost against Shawnee back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Cougars came up short against the Indians, falling 3-0. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The final score came out to 25-6, 25-12, 25-5.

Van Wert's offense was headlined by Flannery Foster and Amaya Dowdy, who picked up two kills apiece. They were helped by Brissia Ickes and Jazzlyn Florence, who contributed two assists each.

Karleigh Hutchins had a dynamite game For Shawnee., getting 12 aces, ten digs, and eight kills. Those 12 aces gave Hutchins a new career-high. Chelsea Burkholder was another key player, getting 21 assists and four digs.

Van Wert's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Shawnee, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Van Wert will challenge Waynesfield-Goshen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Shawnee, they will welcome Ottawa-Glandorf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
