Baseball Recap: Harding Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Harding came out on top against Conneaut on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Skippers walked away with a 6-2 win over the Spartans. Winning may never get old, but the Skippers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Elijah Harless made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Harless was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Yomar Castellano, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Harding is undefeated when Castellano posts two or more runs, but 6-10-1 otherwise.

Harding kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Harding back to even at 10-10-1. As for Conneaut, they moved to 6-16-1 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Harding will square off against Andrews Osborne Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Phoenix's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Skippers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Conneaut, they will face off against McKinley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
