Basketball Recap: Affton Cougars vs. Hazelwood East Spartans
The Affton Cougars won the last time they faced the Hazelwood East Spartans, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Affton came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 42-35. The win made it back-to-back wins for Affton.
It was another big night for Amelia Wilson, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Affton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna M daughtry, who scored ten points along with seven steals and five assists.
Affton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Hazelwood East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Affton has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Owls at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Windsor has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games. Hazelwood East's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Helias presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Spartans in Missouri (the Crusaders are ranked 31st, while the Spartans are ranked 392nd).
