Preview: Red Springs Red Devils vs. Fairmont Golden Tornadoes
Red Springs has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 369th, while Fairmont is ranked 131st).
Last Tuesday, Red Springs blew past Clinton, posting a 54-22 win at home.
Red Springs got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justice Mcmillan out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcmillan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Makhi Arthur, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Fairmont entered their tilt with Cape Fear with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Fairmont walked away with a 45-32 win over Cape Fear on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 18-18 at the break, but Fairmont was the better team in the second half.
Red Springs' record is now 9-12. As for Fairmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Red Springs couldn't quite finish off Fairmont when the teams last played back in January and fell 41-39. Can Red Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
