Sacred Heart Prep and Menlo-Atherton are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. Sacred Heart Prep will square off against Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sacred Heart Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Menlo-Atherton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sacred Heart Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past San Lorenzo Valley 4-3.

Connor Schmalzle made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Kyle Sweeney looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Daniel Gee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Alex Daheb also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Menlo-Atherton made easy work of Carmel on Saturday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.
Wes Peterson looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Merrick Lee was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Ryder Kelly was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Sacred Heart Prep's record now sits at 5-6. As for Menlo-Atherton, their record is now 7-4.
Sacred Heart Prep couldn't quite finish off Menlo-Atherton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Sacred Heart Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
