Basketball Recap: Jayna Bowen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Braden River

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bradenton Christian, Parrish Community was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They snuck past the Braden River Pirates with a 46-41 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-41 back in December of 2024.

Parrish Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayna Bowen, who posted 12 points in addition to seven steals and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Bowen a new career-high in blocks. Romana Lind was another key player, putting up four points along with nine boards and three steals.

Parrish Community smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Kelis McGrady and Kamiyah Mcgrady certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. McGrady almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds, while Mcgrady earned four points in addition to 18 boards and seven steals. With that strong performance, Mcgrady is now averaging an impressive 8.5 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Mya Ortega, who scored four points along with five boards and four steals.

Parrish Community's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-12. As for Braden River, they moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Parrish Community didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-34 loss against Lakewood Ranch on the 16th. As for Braden River, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against Bayshore on the 16th.
