Basketball Recap: William Campbell Comes Up Short

William Campbell lost against Chatham back in January of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The William Campbell Generals fell 43-35 to the Chatham Cavaliers. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why William Campbell lost, don't look at Arnesia Dews. Despite the final result, she went 5-for-11 to rack up 17 points. That was a full 48.6% of William Campbell's points, marking the third time in a row Dews has posted more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Jakiyah Giggetts, who put up 21 points for Chatham. Giggetts' evening made it eight games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. JaMya Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points.

William Campbell's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 10-9. As for Chatham, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chatham beat William Campbell by a score of 51-40 on Thursday.
