Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Lutheran Eagles vs. Northwest Christian Wolverines

Evergreen Lutheran hasn't had much luck against Northwest Christian recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. Evergreen Lutheran has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Quilcene hit Evergreen Lutheran with a four-run fourth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Rangers, falling 11-5. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Meanwhile, Northwest Christian made easy work of Muckleshoot Tribal on Tuesday and carried off a 13-3 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Travis Elmore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Northwest Christian got a massive performance out of Joseph Meier, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Meier has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Parker Cox, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Northwest Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Evergreen Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Evergreen Lutheran suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Northwest Christian when the teams last played on Monday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
