Baseball Recap: Resurrection Christian Takes Down Montezuma-Cortez in a Playoff Battle

Resurrection Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers on Friday. Considering the Cougars have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Charley Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Vincent Fuller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Resurrection Christian hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montezuma-Cortez struck out seven times.

Resurrection Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their defeat dropped their record down to 23-6.

Resurrection Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against University on the 30th. Montezuma-Cortez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
