Basketball Recap: Paxton Sorensen Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lawrence-Nelson

Silver Lake won the last time they faced Lawrence-Nelson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Silver Lake Mustangs took down the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders 56-40. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Silver Lake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paxton Sorensen out in front who went 5-for-10 to rack up 15 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Casey Conway, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 13 points.

Silver Lake was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lawrence-Nelson only seven assists.

When it comes to explaining why Lawrence-Nelson lost, don't look at Caden Culbertson. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points.

Silver Lake's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-8.

Silver Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 65-37 win against Ansley/Litchfield on the 1st. Lawrence-Nelson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
