Baseball Recap: Youngker's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Youngker had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Monday. They beat the Cibola Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Roughriders, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mason Grado was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Daniel Rojas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Riley Carteno, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Youngker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cibola only posted an OBP of .259.

Youngker pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cibola, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Coming up, Youngker will welcome Paradise Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Roughriders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. Cibola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
