Basketball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders vs. Riviera Prep Bulldogs

St. Thomas Aquinas is 0-3 against Riviera Prep since December of 2021 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Raiders will jump right back in to play the Bulldogs at 8:15 p.m. St. Thomas Aquinas is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Thursday, St. Thomas Aquinas was able to grind out a solid win over Cardinal Gibbons, taking the game 79-68.

St. Thomas Aquinas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drake (DJ) Sandi, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards. That's the most rebounds Sandi has posted since back in December of 2024. Clarence Westbrook Jr. was another key player, going 10-for-23 en route to 27 points and six boards.

St. Thomas Aquinas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 100-66, which was the final score in Riviera Prep's tilt against Gillion Academy National on Saturday.

Riviera Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.

St. Thomas Aquinas came up short against Riviera Prep when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 69-58. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
