Softball Game Preview: Design Tech Dragons vs. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions

The Design Tech Dragons will challenge the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Design Tech has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Harker hit Design Tech with a six-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dragons fell 12-7 to the Eagles. It was the first time this season that the Dragons let down their fans at home.

Jeneva Fletcher was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and one stolen base while going 2-for-2.

Fletcher wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ella Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Angelica Soto also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

El Primero hit Luis Valdez Leadership Academy with a six-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions came up short against the Lobos, falling 15-5. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Design Tech suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-5. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, their record is now 0-2.

Everything went Design Tech's way against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Design Tech made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dragons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
