Softball Recap: Mount Dora Christian Academy's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mount Dora Christian Academy ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Foundation Academy Lions 7-5. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Trinty DeVries spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Mount Dora Christian Academy let Katie Bayly and Lily Bryant run wild. Bayly went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Bryant got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Bayly has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon Bailey, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mount Dora Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Foundation Academy only managed eight hits.

Mount Dora Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Foundation Academy, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5.

Mount Dora Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-3 defeat against The First Academy on the 14th. As for Foundation Academy, they have also already played their next match, a 7-1 loss against Montverde Academy on the 15th.
