Baseball Recap: Northfield Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Northfield was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Erie Tigers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Nighthawks of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Northfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Federico, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Northfield has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-7 record this season. As for Erie, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-2.

Coming up, Northfield will square off against Longmont at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.58 runs per game on average), something the Nighthawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Erie, they will face off against Mead at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
