Boylan Catholic is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest loss since May 8, 2024 on Friday. They lost 10-3 to Crystal Lake South. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Gators: they've now lost four in a row.

Gavin Pigott made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Davenport, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Lutheran came up short against Lena-Winslow on Friday, falling 10-3.

Mason Villafuerte was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Villafuerte was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Villafuerte wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nate Ling, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Boylan Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
