Basketball Recap: Zion Simpkins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calipatria over Imperial + How To Watch

Calipatria lost against Imperial back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hornets came up short against the Tigers, falling 68-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered against the Tigers since January 20, 2023.

Calipatria's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zion Simpkins, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Izaak Uribe was another key player, putting up ten points.

Calipatria's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Imperial, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Coming up, Calipatria won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Foothills Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' defense better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 50 points per game this season. As for Imperial, they will take on Brawley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
