Tyce Winchell had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 102 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Tyler Ruxer did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 126 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Heritage Hills was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Gibson Southern was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They took their game with ease, bagging a 41-12 victory over Southridge. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won five in a row.
Heritage Hills better keep an eye on Zach Foster. He was instrumental in Gibson Southern's win, throwing for 201 yards and three TDs, while also rushing for 112 yards and one score on only 14 carries. What's more, Foster racked up 132.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Peyton Johnson was Foster's top target, picking up 64 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Gibson Southern's defense and their three sacks. Leading the way was Maverick Deputy with two.
Heritage Hills' record is now 5-0. As for Gibson Southern, their record now sits at 4-1.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground. Heritage Hills has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 252 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Gibson Southern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 215.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Heritage Hills strolled past Gibson Southern in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-18. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Titans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
