Baseball Recap: Lost River Has No Trouble Against Riddle

Lost River won the last time they faced Riddle and things went their way on Friday too. The Raiders put the hurt on the Irish with a sharp 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won ten matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kyle Diaz made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Lost River: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Lost River let Drew McDonald and Brock Lacy run wild. McDonald went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI, while Lacy went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave McDonald a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Keagan Dunlea, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

The win made it two in a row for Lost River and bumps their season record up to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Riddle, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Lost River will be playing at home against Illinois Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Riddle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
