Basketball Recap: Emma Bird Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

Littleton meant business on Wednesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Lobos squad that has allowed just 27 points per contest. The Littleton Lions took down the Conifer Lobos 57-40. The Lions pushed the score to 48-28 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lobos cut but never quite recovered from.

Littleton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Bird led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 21 boards. Those 21 rebounds gave Bird a new career-high. Vicky Whitney was another key player, putting up eight points and 16 boards.

Littleton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 30 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conifer only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.

Conifer's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bree Leslie, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophie Kramer, who posted four points and nine boards.

The win made it two in a row for Littleton and bumps their season record up to 5-8. As for Conifer, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Littleton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 58-22 loss against D'Evelyn on the 24th. As for Conifer, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 39-36 defeat against Dakota Ridge on the 24th.
