Basketball Recap: Reality Baldwin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crockett over Mccallum

Crockett came up into this matchup off a tough 31-point loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the McCallum Knights by a score of 47-45 on Wednesday. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 41-29.

Crockett lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reality Baldwin, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Baldwin is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. Lauren Smith was another key player, going 7 for 15 on her way to 18 points and five steals.

Even though they lost, Crockett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

McCallum got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emy Chen out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten steals. Sonya Petersen also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Crockett has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 16-13 record this season. As for McCallum, their victory bumped their record up to 9-15.

Crockett has already played their next contest, a 50-24 win against Richards School for Young Women Leaders on the 24th. As for McCallum, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-38 defeat against Anderson on the 24th.
