Volleyball Recap: Plano Starts Season with Win Against Sandwich

Plano gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Sandwich Indians. For the Reapers, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Indians walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Plano had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-16.

Natalia Olson paced Plano's offense, picking up six kills. Olson got some help from Camila Nunez and her nine assists. Olson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Despite the defeat, Sandwich saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Khloe White had three digs and one block.

Plano has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Westmont on the 26th. As for Sandwich, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Johnsburg on the 27th.
