Preview: Vaughn White Tigers vs. Northridge Academy Pumas
Vaughn has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Northridge Academy Pumas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Wednesday, things could have been worse for Vaughn, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-50 loss to Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences.
Despite the loss, Vaughn got a solid performance out of Andrew Gonzalez, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Andrade, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
East Valley typically has all the answers at home, but on Wednesday Northridge Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They enjoyed a cozy 80-65 win over the Falcons. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Vaughn bumped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Northridge Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Vaughn took a serious blow against Northridge Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-10. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Vaughn was down 37-4.
